One Last Chance

Have you ever thought about what you would tell your loved ones if you knew it would be your last chance? What would your final message be?

After a long and difficult struggle with cancer, my father-in-law, the late Robert Frank of Great Falls, MT, finally passed on. Knowing his time on earth would soon be over, Grandpa Frank prepared a taped message to be played for family and friends after his funeral.

Grandpa titled this final message "My Hero" and talked candidly about how his firm belief in Jesus Christ made even his difficult battle with cancer bearable.

He stressed the importance of trusting in the Lord throughout your brief journey here on earth. Living for the Lord must come first, for if you make a hero of anyone or anything but Jesus, you will be disappointed.

Ever the encourager, Grandpa Frank concluded his message with thoughts on how all of us can better know Jesus Christ as Saviour -- by studying God´s Word. A poem entitled "The Bible" sums up his thoughts. We hope you find it uplifting--we know Grandpa Frank did.

The Bible
The Bible discloses the mind of God. It reveals the state of man. It points out the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy. Its precepts are binding. Its histories are true and its judgments are unchangeable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy. It contains light to correct you, food to sustain you and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler´s map, the pilgrim´s staff, the pilot´s compass, the soldier´s sword and the Christian´s charter. Here heaven is opened and paradise restored and the gates of hell are made reality.

Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end.

It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a garden of glory and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be open in the judgment and will be remembered forever. It involves the greatest responsibility and condemns all who trifle with its holy contents. The Bible says all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness.
