Johnny Goodsport Tournament

The Johnny Goodsport Tournament is for
If you agree with the above statements, this tournament is for you!

Get a partner, pay a $5 entry fee per team (all proceeds will go to underprivileged children and families through the mission projects of your church Sunday School!) , and join the quest to be the Johnny Goodsport Indoor Champs of your fair city. Your time and fun will benefit others who don't have time and opportunity to pl

You'll play five sports, two games of each sport, against different opponents each time.

      Sports (adapt as necessary!) include:

    • Pickleball
    • Hotshot Basketball
    • Two Man Volleyball
    • 50 Yard Freestyle Swimming Relay
    • Wiffleball--Home Run Derby
    .

You'll score 3 pts. for a win, 2 pts. for a tie, and 1 pt. for a loss.

Tiebreaker games will be held if more than one team attains the top total. The tie breaking sport will be chosen by a special draft procedure that gives all teams involved equal input.

Winners will receive championship T-Shirts--originals for 1996, the only two of their kind.

Rules of the Goodsport Sports :

Swimming: 25 meters each--start in the pool--must touch wall before 2nd man takes off--teams not swimming can call the winner--swim fast--don't drown!

Pickleball: regular pickleball rules with games up to 11. Remember, both members of a team serve each time they gain service rights. Serve and return of serve must bounce.

Volleyball: regular rules except a point will be awarded to whoever wins the rally whether the team serves or not. This will speed up scoring and allow us to finish 2 games in the 20 minutes we have for each round.

Hotshot Basketball: there will be five spots marked. Each shooter will shoot for 1 minute and must change spots each time plus must shoot from each spot at least once. If you miss a spot, the value of that spot will be subtracted from your score. Shooter or partner can rebound the ball in order to speed up the shooting rate.

Wiffleball : homerun derby with your partners pitching to partners, one pitch per at bat: foul balls, bad pitches are outs--one pitch period, make it a good one. Homerun =hit off top half of back wall, triple=off scoreboard or speakers, double=off bottom half of back wall in the air, single=anything that makes to the back wall with any # of bounces (adjust as playing field dictates). Game lasts 7 innings or 10 minutes.
